Overview
“The original concept that sparked a series—still unmatched in impact.”
This stop-motion calligraphy video was produced during my internship at Kakao, one of Korea’s leading tech companies.
As the first of its kind, it later inspired the naming of the internal “Just Watch” series—but none of the subsequent videos achieved the same level of engagement or virality.
I proposed and led the entire concept, aiming to create a dialogue-free, globally accessible visual experience built entirely on playful, handcrafted design and imaginative storytelling.

Process
• Initiated and pitched the original idea during my internship, leading all aspects from planning to post-production
• Personally discovered and recruited a promising calligraphy artist, conducting interviews to align creative direction
• Experimented with nontraditional materials (e.g., broken chopsticks, OHP film, product wrappers) to enhance the visual fun and texture
• Used my background in media design to apply CG-inspired special effects with a whimsical tone, referencing Disney-style fantasy
• Focused on purely visual storytelling—no dialogue or narration—for universal accessibility

Outcome/Results
• The video went viral, recording 3.9 million YouTube views and an estimated 5 million+ across platforms
• It was selected as a YouTube Trending Video (Top Rising), further amplifying its reach
• It became the most-viewed video on the channel, outperforming celebrity-led content
• A viewer comment on the editing received over 3,000 likes, highlighting its strong audience response
• The project’s success led to the internal creation of more “Just Watch” videos—but none matched the original in impact or reception
• This remains one of my most meaningful projects—where my creativity, communication skills, direction, and design background fully came together
